This is hillarious and I just loved it! Well I actually had a similar experience in Ponyo, Miyazaki's latest film, I kept thinking about my own relationship and how we are like those characters. I think that's what it is, you probably found smth personal maybe you wonder having sex with a friend of your that you like will things change? And you project this thought onto those characters.
