Is it normal to think about suicide?

Not that i'm going to do it, but i've been thinking about the Pro's & Con's of doing it. It seems to lay more to cons then pro. I think about it almost everyday, I don't think it's healthy to think about it.

When you kill yourself, it's not just: "BOOM! You're gone! No more pain!" You are actually creating a lot more pain. The worst part is that you are throwing all this pain on your loved ones. Stop thinking about it. I mean I can't tell you to stop considering the idea, but you should. You were given life so have fun with it. :)

How can there be cons? You'd be too dead to care.

Someone told me this not long ago, which shifted the way I think of suicide:

You feel a persistent, aching pain that hurts you so much, you think if you leave, that it will go away. But by leaving, you multiply and magnify that aching pain exponentially and hand it to your family and friends, to everyone who ever knew you and everyone who would be touched by you if you had stayed around.

I was also shown that thinking about it was a sort of addiction. It is a way to dull the ache of living, to imagine this "glorious" exit strategy that will heal all woes. It is a waste of time. In this lonely black place you stand there, looking at death, rather than figuring out how to change in order to turn toward lightness and life. It really is an embracing that needs to happen...a turning away from the darkness toward the unknown of living, in trust and faith that there is an as-yet undiscovered reason to be.

    Common, yes. Healthy, no.

I'd only consider it if I was living in a post apocalyptic hellhole where the world was roamed by half dead cannibals.

I think it's okay to be intrigued by it but if you are getting into ideas about how you would plan your own suicide I suggest you speak to a therapist pronto. Even a therapist can shed some light on it.

    Ethical Dilemma.
It is normal and natural to contemplate suicide at times.
It is not normal to do this every day.
You want to preserve your energetic life to a reasonable degree and extent.
However, should we not act quickly, we are all committing suicide together, due to the adverse effects of overpopulation.

The subject crosses my mind at least once a day. It's definitely not healthy though. And if it gets worse I would recommend talking to someone about it. Just because right now the thoughts seem under control and mostly towards the 'cons' of suicide they could eventually become worse and start showing more 'pros'.
