Ah HAH! Finaly my life experiences are useful to someone else!! I HAVE THE ANSWER. You dont eat much because you dont burn a lot of energy. And since you dont eat much your metabolism is very slow. (Downside, weight gain and low energy, upside longer life span IF you are not heavy)! Every time you consume more calories then you burn AT ALL it becomes more fat.
THIS IS HOW YU FIX IT. Your body has become used to specific kinds of foods.. cumfort foods. Im my case it was bread and pasta. Pure carbohydrates. SO I switched to a hing protine VERY LOW carbohydrate diet eight years ago. (meat fish and eggs mostly). I added bike riding to spead up the process and lost forty seven pounds in five months! When I stiped the diet and went back to the foods I love in moderation I regained twelve pounds. But after all this time im still ahead thirty five pounds.
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

NOTE: I limited myself to eight carbs a day. This si not easy on your heart, but its easier on it then staying heavy. ESPECIALY if your under thirty.
