Is it normal to think about cutting myself, but never actually do it?

I often think about cutting myself, giving myself scars, and blood spilling on the floor. the thing is, i never actually cut myself. whenever i start thinking this way i start scratching at my wrist. i've never cut myself and probably never will, but i wanted to know if anyone else does this or if it's just me.

Is It Normal?

  • I used to think and do that myself for a long time, but I ended in cutting myself after all. Don't do that, it's addictive and fuck so..

  • Seems weird to me, both that and actual cutting, I don't understand the appeal.

  • I think about doing this all the time, if you think it's the right thing to do.. go for it.. but in the end you'll regret giving yourself those scars..

  • easy, take a knife and cut yourself. I used to do it for a while when I was a kid. Got a bunch of big and small scars, but they're all covered in tattoos anyway.

I don't even know why I did it.. it wasn't a teen anguish or depressions. Maybe I'm just fascinated with blood and gore.
Try it and some people like it, some people don't. it's not normal though, and if you become obsessed -see a doctor.

  • Hey there!

I often consider cutting as a way of unleashing anger, finding a source to combat my internal pain.
However, I never actually do it.
As an Asperger Syndrome sufferer, I find myself thumping my inner forearm with my left hand. It's not good, and I'm not proud of it.

But to consider - and fantasise, in a sense - cutting and bleeding, it does not mean you are suicidal or depressed.
To fantasise does not give away inclinations; sometimes, imagining things we might never do in reality can be almost exhilarating.

Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions, my friend.

    xx
