Is it normal to think about aging and my own mortality?

  • The idea of being mortal and actually having to vanish someday hit me when I was 19 and it has stayed with me ever since. It usually takes a near-death experience to make you REALLY consider all its implications. The idea probably bothers me because I haven't accomplished my goals; I think that by the time I'm satisfied with my life I won't have so much trouble letting go.
Also it has been demonstrated that the individuals who believe in an after life have better health than those who don't. Let's try to keep an open mind if only to be practical.
