Is it normal to think about a family member's eventual death?

I have this rude, whiny, stubborn 90-something year old grandmother who is living with us. None of us, except my dad, likes her (she is his mom, after all). Well, ever since she's come to live with us I've been thinking about her eventual death. Its not so much a hope or a wish that she dies soon, but more of a morbid observation of "She's in her 90s. She might die soon. Maybe even today." Is this normal?

My 59 year old dad isnt in the best of shape.. He is a heavy smoker of tobacco and cannabis, cant seem to walk too far because he suffers with Plantar Fasciitis (Heel and Foot Pain) and is also borderline diabetic. He is over weight and has trouble breathing (a result of smoking obviously).

The thought that he may have a heart attack or stroke worries me and i wonder how long left he has especially if he doesn't change his ways (stop smoking and lose weight).

The reality is that your grandmother is 90 years old. She may live another 10 but death could always be around the corner..
