  • I think you will find that a lot more people than you realize actually talk to themselves, sometimes in their heads or out loud. Typically, they do so when they are alone and in their home / bedroom or somewhere they know they won't be disturbed. I've often done it ever since I was young and I'm almost positive that it is because of my uncanny inability to make friends. It's not even that I can't make friends, it's that I can't keep them. I've been hurt a lot and happen to be a highly sensitive and intuitive person who absorbs other people's moods, feeling, energies and auras like a sponge.

I can't stay around people too long or I will start to feel uneasy and be overcome with a general sense of malaise.

Sometimes, I talk to myself and have full conversations with myself and practice imaginary arguments or discussions that I think might take place with others in the real world and I think it's helped me become a lot more articulate as well as helped me organize my thoughts when forming arguments.

Other times, I just talk to myself or play out certain scenarios in my head (that take place in my fantasy world) or I start to describe a fantasy to myself as I imagine it unravelling.

You're normal. As loath as I am, and many others are, to admit, most of us do this. A lot! It's just one of those things that are socially unacceptable and so people don't talk about it or admit to others as readily. Especially people like you and me who are more... introspective.
