Is it normal to talk to yourself?

Is it Normal for someone to talk to themselves? I'll often just zone out and start talking to someone, as if someones there, but then i'll back to my concious state, and realise what the hell I'm doing. I'll quickly stop. But yeah, I have OCD, other than that, I haven't been tested for anything else.

Zoning out to talk to an imaginary person is not normal.

Talking to oneself, internally or out loud is totally normal.

YES, it's like a taboo thing, and misinformed people think it's a sign of a mental disorder like psychophrenia. Except there's a whole host of other symptoms.

We talk to ourselves in our heads constantly. Sometimes it's chatter directed at ourselves. Sometimes we're asking ourselves questions. When this is heard aloud, it scares people, because you just don't see people talking aloud to themselves.
Which I think is partly a learned behavior and some kind of manners.

But it's easy to get into. I notice I do it more when I think I'm alone, or when I've lived alone. The problem is when it becomes a habit, or when you do it when people are around. Because most people don't want to hear your every thought/and we should want to keep some or most of our thoughts to ourselves!

Like talking in the mirror, and pretending that you're talking to someone, like you're rehearsing?

I enjoy talking to myself, and used to do it a lot when I worked by myself in empty buildings at night, because it took away from the creepiness of it. It was unsettling when it was too quiet in those places.

I talk to myself a lot in the car, and for some reason it helps me to actually say my thoughts out loud. I'm not sure why. I get a lot of my pent up venting and hard decision making done this way.
