It's normal for young guys to be horny all the time. Most young guys are homophobic and so if either guy takes a chance and does something to cross that line or break down that barrier then it says to the other guy that "anything goes, let's have some fun"! So then being a horny young guy that you were it was perfectly normal for you to respond the way you did to him, and for things to quickly escalate until you were both spent!
