Even within a narrow subject area, there are things you implicitly understand and things which you constantly need to keep chipping away at. AC Theory in Physics is a good example for me. It's not especially complicated but it just won't stay in my brain for longer than a day. It doesn't matter how long I study it, it just isn't going to stick.
