It's normal to an extent. I am 28 and I still sleep with a nightlight and a blanket. But I also suffer from anxiety and I struggle with irrational fears at times. A simple nightlight is harmless but it may be worth looking into if you feel it's seeping into other areas of your life. So, yes it is normal but if you notice it's a common theme in your life then that's not normal and you should talk to someone about it. Also consider why you are so scared about being kidnapped or someone breaking in. It really depends on your situation. Do you live in a bad neighborhood? Were you raised by a parent who was overprotective or had fears like this? Have you experienced a traumatic situation? If your bothered by the night light try to figure out the root reason for why you have it, if you address that then you will likely be able to get rid of it and live in less fear.
