Belive it or not there is an actual survival advantage to doing so. Our nasal system is like a filter. Removing containments from the air before we inhale them. The nasal cavity is a closed system when it comes to the immune system. As in no antibodies come to fight containments in the mucus because the problem is already solved. Eating you boogers as disgusting as it is socially is actually introducing those containments into your gut where its mostly broken down by the digestive track but can be learned by the immune system to prevent sickness in the future.
Still disgusting to do so in public so limit it to your private life.
I’d never do it in public, of course, but I’m glad you recognize the potential benefit in it. For instance, what if that bacteria usually captured by mucus got into me through my mouth or other means? I’d have no way of fighting it due to my immune system never encountering it much before.
Is it normal to still pick my nose and eat it at age 19?

Still the benefits of doing so are so insignificant it's barely enough that its instinct.
