My mother would punch any one of the five us at the first excuse! I agree with all the others, move out and then you can watch what you want, when you want.
It's a sad relationship that you explode with your mouth and apparently your dad does with his fists! Maybe if you understand that he is dealing with grief then you should have been more compassionate.
You haven't stated your age coz I think you know that you were behaving like a young brat - it's not something a more mature person would do. In future, try appealing to his kind side eg. 'aw dad :o( I was watching that'.
You don't want to cry wolf by calling the police, they've real crimes to see to!!
