Is it normal to steal from stores?

I usually take makeup or candy, just small things. I like the thrill. Anyone else?

  • Maybe it's like being a pathological liar.

  • I love going into the fitting rooms, donning a couple of pairs of underpants, putting my pants on over them and walking out!

I have over 200 pairs of underpants in various different styles and cuts!

  • Several months ago I stole a Tsum Tsum style toy fox (because foxes are my favourite animal) from a newsagent and when me and my mother who didn't see me pocket it were leaving the shop I glanced at the cashier and she gave me this look of anger mixed with curiosity but she didn't say anything and I left with my prize stuffed in my pocket. When I look at it now I get a feeling of thrill that I scored it for free yet I also remember the look the cashier gave me and feel a big rush of guilt too.

  • Maybe normal but wrong. Mom confessed to stealing yet she always gives me crap about the time when I thought something was free once.

  • It's fairly normal for teenage girls to do this: I used to steal books because I loved reading and my parents didn't give me enough pocket money.

I've also stolen as an adult when I've been very poor, but only books or stuff I really needed, like vitamins. I've never been caught and do have some rules for myself: eg don't steal in the area where I live because if I'm caught and it gets in the local media it will be very awkward and don't steal from small businesses, only the big ones, which of course increases the likelihood of being caught.

Fortunately I haven't needed to do it for quite a few years now.
