Is it normal to stay friends with someone I hate?

  • Sounds to me like you should just drop her entirely, I wouldnt even bother with her anymore if she is like what you describe. If she is like that then it shouldnt take much effort to be rid of her.

Most people remain in contact with other's for reasons other then what we would call "friendship" but its packaged and sold as being a "friendship". The strange thing is some of these same people would still view it as a friendship when it clearly isnt and its just a case of one person using the other or both using each other for their own betterment. Sounds like she is using you to make herself feel better.

I had "friends" like this when I was around 21, and had a house all to myself, they used to just contact me since it was a place to drink at and I would only hear from them on weekends at the most. So what did I do? Said sure cmon on over, and by the way, your paying for my alcohol if you want to drink here.

You use me for the house I use you for the beer. Its a win win for everyone. That was over 10 years ago, and surprise surprise I didnt end up staying in touch with a single one of them.
