You sound a lot like my friend and I was actually worried you could be my friend talking about me, but I don't ditch my friend for guys so it probably isn't.
Any way, I did this to my friend for a while because she seemed to have so many other friends and activities and no time for me, so I started trying to distance myself from her and pretending she wasn't my best friend to avoid feeling hurt whenever she wasn't around for me.
I tried to act indifferent and forced myself to stop caring whether she was around or not, because I didn't want to get close again only to find out I came second. It was stupid, I know. Now I give her space, but still treat her as my best friend.
Is it normal to start hating my best friend?
