I met a guy on Instagram and we really hit it off. Normal? He lives in another state than me though

It's increasingly acceptable. Go for it, whatever makes you happy. Just be sensible and safe.
I met a girl from another country about 3 years ago on GTA.
We now live together.
It can expand the horizons because of unlimited matchmaking available online. You can talk with multiple different people at once without losing time. You get to know each other with no strings attached.
Make sure you always "face time" before you meet someone from internet. It can only be dangerous for naive and inexperienced people.
So many people have a so-called relationship over the web. THAT must be action-packed.
In one sense it's normal in that it's common, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing to do.
An internet relationship is not a real relationship: you're relating to words and possibly images which may or may not be true and you could be doing the same thing. It's as if both people are wearing masks or maybe they aren't or maybe one is and the other one isn't: there's no way of telling when you haven't met someone face to face.
Internet relationships always seem to me to be just a shared fantasy, which is fine, as long as both parties realise it's just that and not real.
I don't know how normal it is, but it seems rather a commonplace occurrence. I hope it works out for you. I met someone online who turned out to be not so nice in certain ways.
