Is it normal to start a period after taking plan b?

My boyfriend and I had sex a few days after my period. The condom broke so we immediately got Plan B and I took it. Now, a few days later, I have started heavily bleeding. Is this normal?

I took Plan B and if you read the information in the packaging it tells you that you will start your period. I think in the future it would be beneficial that you pay attention to the labels of medication you are taking. =D

I had taken Plan B once before. I knew the side effects. I didn't really think I needed to read them again since I knew the side effects. Also, when I took it before, it did not effect me at all. That is why I was concerned.

Ask your pharmacist what drugs do BEFORE you take them!
...But yes, this is what Plan B does. It's shedding the lining of your uterus to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg.
Don't use this as a form of contraceptive. But your pharmacist will tell you all you need to know about it! They're there for a reason!

Well, I had taken Plan B before (same thing happened) and nothing happened. I was a little loopy after I took it, but that was it. Now, I talked to my Human Sexuality professor and she told me that when taking Plan B if you are stressed, your hormonal balance changes and that could be the cause.

yes, I heard that that may happen from my BFs mom (I don't know what her job is exactly, but she knows a ton about this stuff, as does my mom, who said the same thing about plan b)

Yes, I am aware of the symptoms. I was just worried because when I had to take it before, I experienced nothing and for some reason, I was now? It's heavy bleeding, it's not like I could just put a tampon in and be good for the rest of the day.
