  • It still works like a business. You are showing how ignorant you are about the subject. You need to get enough money to keep the business up. Even if you are not being taxed. You need money to run it. Try picking up a business book and see how that process works.

    • And yes you still need to pay rent and upkeep, pay employees, ect, but this has nothing to do with topic we where discussing. Tax exempt status. Which if you don't mind me simplifying it for you, so you can understand. Becomes more difficult the more money you make.

      • You need to get it approved, if you go by grants or sponsors that's another issue, you have to account for expenses to keep up the establishment which is already hard enough to do with a profit business. There is a lot that goes into it, and it's not really as simple as "I'm opening up a church tomorrow". You also have to establish it as something you are not getting money off of.

        • Again you are talking about a nonprofit business. The rules for a church are different.

Sigh. First what country do you live in? Laws there might be different.

    • It is not a nonprofit business. Your showing your ignorance. Churches do not even need to file for tax exempt status. They are automatically awarded status as long as they comply with the tax code. Do you need a copy of IRC 501(c)3?
