Go find a good library and get some books on the subject and start reading. Most of what is on the internet is very short summations, although its a good place to start.
Please keep your curiosity and interest.
Contact a local college or university with a Zoology department and start a conversation with a professor (who may pass you to another professor).
They will talk to you, encourage you, and likely provide solid reference and education materials.
Also, there is no reason that you cannot be smarter than your high school science teachers in some subjects. I was (in astronomy and optics).
