Is it normal to stand up and feel dizzy?...

It doesn't happen all the time. Just alot. I stand up and walk a few paces, for example from my room to the top of the stairs and my field of visions starts to blacken in a sort of circular way for both of my eyes. My body would feel weak and in some cases the dizziness goes, yet sometimes it just gets worse to the point where I am on my knees waiting for the phase to pass. I have experienced passing out before, however this feels different. I can still talk normally. I just feel like when it is over that I am not me, but still me. Nothing changes, though I carry on I can't help but wonder whether it is normal and others experience a similar thing too.

Is It Normal?

  • Do you exercise enough.

are you getting up too quickly

    Are you overweight or underweight

Do you experience a spinning/vertigo sensation

    • Spinning sensation. I go on walk/jog for about 1 hour or so a day and at work I am constantly walking around. Sometimes I force ably get up slowly, it just doesn't make a difference as it still happens. I think I'm normal weight too.

    • You might actually be right. The symptoms seem like it. Thanks for the advice ;-) I don't think I'm a retard though. I just didn't know if there was a problem or what it was.

  • You're clearly the result of a religious upbringing.

  • Two things come instantly to mind.
    1) low blood sugar; does this happen when you haven't eaten for awhile?
    2) A cardiac problem, which you must get diagnosed by a physician, soon if it's not #1.
    Good luck.

    • Why don't we get all the sailor folk together and have a party?

It'll be you and me, TheWrinklySailor, thebathtubsailor, TheBasementSailor, theshowersailor, thefountainsailor, Thetypsysailor, and thegvpsysailor. All 9 of us can drink rum, watch the waves and cuss at our parrots, 42 years our juniors.

Then we can sit around a share a drunken rant about how Gawd's a bastard and religion is evil, then go on IIN together.

  • I used to experience the same sort of thing on a much milder level. If it's making you unable to stand, however, you should see a dentist...sorry, doctor.
