I really don't want to develop this habit, so the only tv in my house is in the living room. I've never had one in my bedroom because I know I'd develop the need for the tv to be on.
I like silence.
I don't usually sleep with the TV on unless I fall asleep really fast before turning it off. I do, however, have a lot of trouble falling asleep without watching TV first.
It's totally normal but not entirely healthy. Your body (including your brain) should relax completely before going to sleep. That way your brain will truly know what it means to rest.
