For a non-native speaker of English, you are doing a pretty good job from what I can see. As for your situation, I don't really not what to think on the normalcy of it. If you are worried that you are starting to get into a weird spot with your brother you should take him aside and tell him about your concerns. Try to create some form of boundaries with him.
