helpful point, pepper. i'm aware that the problem isn't the grocery stores themselves, which is why my actions are still irrational. in my eyes the grocery store is just an extension of what is a much larger unfair economic and political system. and only goes to reinforce my feeling of powerlessness in the face of these latter. i know i need to cathect my anger in a way that would make something productive of it. still, this feeling of powerlessness is hard to temper, or sublimate for that matter. the reason i posted on this site in the first place was because i did think that more people might share this feeling. in fact, i do believe that the reason americans are such wonderful consumers is because purchasing power is a perfect substitute for real power. you buy things, and value the ability to buy things, because you don't actually have any real power in this world...
