Is it normal to self diagnose mental disorders?

  • I don't believe in mental disorders. People should be happy with who they are, and the psychiatrists be damned to hell for feeling the need to judge them and label it as a bad disorder that needs to be "fixed." There are also many characteristics that people can exhibit, just because a psychiatrist doesn't think some of those are how it "should" be, doesn't mean that there is something wrong with you, caused by an imbalance of chemicals in your head, that you need to start taking medicine for in order to "fix."

    I just watched a movie called "The Story of Luke" about a young man with autism. He has accepted himself, and loves himself, and is confident with himself, and he is just so sure of himself even while displaying symptoms of "autism" that is was so refreshing and nice to see how he lived his life. IMO, there is nothing wrong with this kid, and I can learn a thing or two from him.
