you might also want to consider the other possibilities
1) Afterimage - also called persistence of vision. A quick way to see this is to look at something in bright light and turn the lights off as you're looking at it or close your eyes.
You'll see an after image of the object for a second or two.
2) grainy vision. This one comes in two parts really.
First there's the floaters. These are actually seen best in daylight, say looking at a light blue sky. You'll see junk floating around if you focus well on it... or rather if you try to focus on it. The junk floating in the liquid parts of your eyes will often move as your eye shifts so it will appear to move if you try to direct your eyes at it.
general graininess in the dark. you see this if you have closed eyes. if you close your eyes and wait long enough you may see 'ghost images' appear often combined from after images as i mentioned before or floaters, and your blood vessels
i mean when i close my eyes i don't really see black, it's more like a black with touches of dark red grain, like static. sometimes it even seems to move but it's nothing more than vision tricks.
3) something is poking your eye. sometimes if you rub your eye, you'll see an image like a bright circle opposite where you're rubbing.
also, if you MOVE and the things stay where they are, on a wall/door, you may as well try going there and "blocking" them with your hands. If it's really your door glowing, you can inspect it closer.
If you can "block" it with your hands, you can find out where the source is.
Just because something is shut, does not mean it's 100% tight. even a small hole in whatever fabric it is could lead to such a phenomen, without being visible from any but the exact angle.
I use to see a head-shaped image on my wall at night, as I was growing up. Ghosts? Nope. Just the street light (and sometimes moonlight) reflecting off my Mickey Mouse mirror.
Is it normal to see this at night?
