Is it normal to see a sick little kid in the hospital?

This little boy looked unwell, and looked so cute, he's been held on his bum by his mother, and I compared the size of my big hand with the size of his little hand. When I looked at him (which I got away with) nobody seemed to mind. He has soft hair (softer than mine, but I didn't touch it), short, good-looking and a haircut, and for some reason people think it looks better than long wild hair on a man. I think he came down with a fever and I was waiting in line in the hospital before being told to sit down. Looking at children is just looking at children, it doesn't mean anything, as I convinced the world this. Is that normal?
