Only if they're not good friends. Good friends can be supportive, not good "friends" might be judgy. I can see why you wouldn't want random people you know at the gym.
Even if they were the most supportive people in the world, I would still rather die than be seen by them in a gym by friends I knew from school or whatever.
IIN to refuse to go to a gym if friends you know from elsewhere go?
