I try to excuse their behaviour by thinking "they did the best they knew how".
I say that coz there was less education for them - how to treat children and/or how to develop their self-esteem and confidence. There were no child-rearing TV programmes to show them techniques or any good books.
Not everyone is a natural parent - it is extremely hard work to discipline consistently and fairly. Many parents opt out by using alcohol or drugs, others just lash out in frustration.
Is it normal to realise it just now?
