Is suicide morally acceptable, if you don't have a family to take care of? Personally, I think it's acceptable even if you do have a family, but a lot of people disagree with me on this one. What do you think?
Note: No, I'm not suicidal, this is a purely theoretical question.
I think it should be. What I don't agree with is when the police becomes involved and they get sent to a mental hospital and harassed with questions. In some places committing suicide is illegal and if the person in question survives, they can be sent to court and sued. It's not right! I think it should be the person's choice and business whether they commit suicide or not.
it's not just selfish to leave people who need you to take care of them, its selfish to cause the emotional trauma to those who know and may love you. and even if you have absolutely zero friends, family, or coworkers who will care, who's to say you couldn't have gotten yourself together and positively impacted someone's life in the future, who would then care if you died. if you quit and take the easy way out, you'll never find those friends and joys of life that make it worth living.
You can't always care for how your actions might emotionally affect some random people. You gotta do what you gotta do. If you always think about the emotional state of your colleges and acquaintances, you'll have no time left to think about your own.
Family - yes, that I can understand. But those people? I don't know.
What makes you think suicide is acceptable?
I don't think anyone can know just how their life could possibly impact others, even if they are alone and even if they feel inferior to the rest of the world. If someone with a family commits suicide they are setting the ones who loved them back, forcing them to fight through negative emotions for years or even a lifetime. Even if one feels they are "helping" the world by taking their own life... Well, there is no way to know that with or inferior minds that cannot predict the future. And if they are considerate enough to try to help the world that way, death is likely not deserved in the first place.
