Is it normal to put the toilet lid down before flushing?

Yes when you flush with it open. Fecal matter and urine bacteria spreads in the air. Closing the lid is actually very sanitary.

Yes I do. They say that flushing a toilet is like a sneeze that comes out of the toilet. When you think of a person sneezing, they're spraying out germs such as their saliva and sometimes like mucus into the air which can cause a person to catch a virus and get sick, and when you think of a toilet flushing, its doing the exact same thing except it's spraying the entire bathroom with bacteria such as ecoli, found on a persons shit. So if you don't put the seat down when you flush the toilet you're pretty much spraying the room and "yourself" with shit particles. And anything in that bathroom that you use in there will be contaminated like a persons toothbrush or hairbrush. I keep my toothbrush in my room.
