I understand about holding off on a relationship to meet goals, but you are taking it waaaaaay too far. Waiting more than 15 years? That is insane. And what if you don't make it to mayor in 2024? What if it takes you until 2028? Or 2032? Then your whole plan is set back by YEARS!
It is good to be thinking ahead, but with a plan that far out, that is no reason to dump your boyfriend now. It seems more like you want an excuse to break up with him because I definitely think you could make your relationship work and campaign if it were a priority to you.
You are asking him to wait more than 15 years to be with you again, so you can be a politician. You are making an unreasonable request of him and pulling the "you don't support my dreams" card to guilt him into agreeing. That shows that you don't really care about him and his dreams, and honestly, I think both of you would be better off without the other.
Is it normal to put a relationship on hold till you meet your goals?
