Is it normal to pronouce th as d?

If you are Dutch/German speaker - completely normal.

þ (Th) in "Thank" is retained in English where in Dutch/German we moved to a "D" as in "Dank" (Thank). English retrained the original "th" sound which is based on the old rune letter "þ"

However it is seen in some English accents where "th" sounds the same as "tank" which sounds like a soft D with a T ending.

Before I learnt english I did that when I said any word in english. I'm swedish. It was either d or t.

Makes sense. If you're a Spanish speaker the "th" sound doesn't come as naturally as the "d" sound. I'd say it's pretty common among second-language English speakers whose first language is Spanish.

Well I'm German and I really hate the "th"... I get along with it and it's not that bad but sometimes I mess it up =P

I hate words like swordsmith because there you have both, normal "s" and "th" :(
