Is it normal to pretend to be in the shower?

When living with others, is it normal to lock the bathroom door and turn the water on and just browse your phone instead of actually taking a shower? I just do this when I want privacy. I actually go to pretty stupid lengths to make my lie believable, like when someone knocks on the door to say something, I open the shower door before responding, and always get into the shower at some point so I don’t get caught.
I don’t think it’s normal to do that, what do you think?

    Theirs other solutions beyond wasting water. You could take a walk or something. It’s normal to want to be alone sometimes and enjoy your own company but this is a little weird. Pretending to do something just to get away when you can just, gets away.

    When one is in a living situation where they do not have enough privacy, one will do nearly anything just to get some peace and quiet "me" time.

    Yeah it is kind of wasting water (and raising the water bill) but you know, one has to do SOMEthing just to get some alone time.
