People admire that which most resembles themselves. The courageous man admires the courageous, the comedic, comedy. It's only natural that you'd gravitate towards a trait you probably share.
But for me, neither holds much value. I've seen too many "intelligent" people be destroyed by what little they're ignorant of and kindness is overrated as some of the worst deeds perpetuated in human history were done with the intent of good will.
