Not surprising. "Even" has a positive connotation associated with it, like something being smooth and flat and without flaws in it. "Odd" has a negative connotation, like something being out of place or misshapen. I'd imagine if the numbers 1,3,5 etc where called "even" and the numbers 2,4,6 etc where called "odd", then you'd prefer the 1,3,5 types of numbers instead.
