Whenever I see one of these poor chap's mugshots on the tele, I can't help but feel sorry for them. Imagine living in a world where the thing you most desire is illegal. It makes me sad. Certainly children must be protected, but I could never hate someone for what he cannot change.

Knowing what pedophiles do to children and their utter indifference to destroying innocence, I have no pity for them.
Everyone wants something they can't have....it's part of life, EVERYONE deals with it in some manner and most people deal with it properly with restraint or going through the proper channels to gain what they want. Do you feel sorry for someone who steals a diamond necklace just because they wanted to have it but didn't have the money?? I'd hope not. Do you feel sorry for a man that rapes a hot looking lady just because she wouldn't have consensual sex with him? People who have no regard for others person or property are scumbags, plain and simple.
i am indifferent to there plight if they dont seek help, they hide, they know what they do is wrong. i think they should be jailed and intensivley studied as to the reasons for there perversity, if they decline the invitation, a never to be released stamp on there file. if they kill hand them a gun to suicide or do it for them , but who will pull the trigger thats the dilema

I feel no sympathy for them whatsoever, they think it's fine to abuse a child and have utter indifference about the consequences.
They manipulate, lie and threaten to get what they want, so I wouldn't spit on them if they were on fire.
I don't think we know enough about them to know whether this is an illness or just wickedness. As devilla already said, I think putting them in prison is a waste of time. I'd have them in secure psychiatric units and would analyse every last detail of their lives and thoughts. If there is a way to reduce or prevent paedophilia, we should be focussing all our efforts on finding out how we do that.
there's absolutely no reason to feel sorry for them. having sex with children is not a normal thing to desire. don't you feel sorry for the children who have been molested and scarred for life?
I can certainly understand you. Logical reasoning when you think about it. But pedophiles must be kept away from children anyway, and the pedophiles you see on television are rapists and molesters, and they have no rights.
However, a pedophile that keeps his obsession to himself, and doesn't let it lead to him abusing children, is not an unethical person.
What about killers? alot of them do it because they cant control themselfes even if it is premeditated because they are just wired that way would you feel sorry for them even if they killed 20 people?

That's pretty big of you, and a little worrisome at the same time. No one said you had to hate these people, but don't feel sorry for them because what they want is unacceptable. This is why some of them choose voluntary castration.
Pedophiles are sick bastards who deserve to die. Maybe one day when you get fucked up the ass by a crazy pervert you will understand why.
Howaminotmyself, you're saying that their choices are either abuse children and go to jail, or castrate themselves? And that we SHOULDN'T feel sorry for them as a result?
I have no sympathy for people who abuse children, but I feel sorry as hell for people who are attracted to children but would never act on it because they know it's wrong. When your only options are always wanting something you have 0 hope of ever attaining, or cutting off your own genitals, it seems like you've been given a pretty crappy lot in life. Especially because many pedophiles are the way they are because they were molested as children.
The way I see it, Pedophilia is a state of mind, not an act. So the ones who resist, who spend their whole existence denying themselves happiness, no matter how depraved, because they know it's evil, deserve our sympathy and help. I have seen people here express the desire to kill and castrate for this sole aspect. This will not encourage them to 'come out' so to speak and get help before it's too late. It'd be far better to let them know that we understand it's not their fault, that no one would ever choose this sickness. If a pedophile could go an entire lifetime without touching a child, I might actually respect them.
I want to "try" and understand your point like an adult and understand the phycology of it all...I want to understand your compassion. But, I'll be honest, I really can't.

I would certainly feel sorry for someone who was a paedophile but never acted on it, but I do think that once they cross that line they deserve what they get.
They deserve what ever happens to them.I think u might not like children as much... That's why u don't think about the anguish they go through.
It's in the Human DNA to protect our children. Whether it's ours or others., They go against this instinct and harm them, but not see it as harm. It's very sad how their brain works. I don't think yet deserve pity.
I feel the same way you do... People often think I'm a bad person cause I've said that I feel sorry for hitler and other dictators... I just see them as poor people who are greed for power cause they lack confidence or I don't know
It appears that pedophiles are not the only ones ruled by emotions. Evil is a symptom, not a personality trait. Woe to him who hates.
Someone above mentioned Hitler. Adolf Hitler was a brilliant man who fought hard for the advancement of his people. In doing so, 12,000,000 people died. There are many others who may have killed only 3 or 4 people, but did so because they enjoyed killing people. Who is more "evil"? Figures are incidental. Do actions make a person evil? Or is it intent? Can a person even truly "be" evil? Or are we all just victims of ignorance, ideology, broken minds, and alienation from God? To brand a human being as "being" evil is simple-minded and wrong.
People hate what they do not understand. Some pedophiles have absolutely no control over their behavior, and others are victims of our Godless society that teaches people that morality is subjective and that you had better fulfill all of your desires for tomorrow you are to rot in the ground forever.
Hatred and ignorance are far greater diseases than any sexual desire ever could be. By hating someone, you rob that person of their basic humanity, because you imply that they have chosen evil for evil's sake, like some two-dimensional comic book villain, instead of simply being what all of us are: victims of human imperfection. You do not know what is going on in another person's mind, you do not know what it is like to be that person. You do not know what it is like to have potent physical desires you are not permitted to satisfy. You have absolutely no right to hate another human being, because in doing so, you are acting as judge, the judge that only God can be. Simply do what is necessary to protect your children, and nothing more. Love and forgive all of mankind.
