Did he let you know about it first? If I were going to lunch with a guy (even if it was for a work project) I would let my bf know first. It's common courtesy, esp. if you're in a committed relationship.
Why? Maybe it was a spontaneous spur of the moment thing. What sort of adult would need to say to work colleagues: "Oh hold on, I have to check with wifey (or hubby) first before I can go out to lunch with you?"
