Is it normal to pee in jugs/bottles when a bathroom is nearby?

So, I'm a dude. I shower everyday, I have a GF and I work a 9 to 5 job....

But sometimes... When im really comfortable just laying on the couch and I gotta go... I go for the bottle even though theres a perfectly good toilet 20 FT away.

Is this normal?

    My housemate does that. He doesn't even empty the bottles the next day. They sit there for weeks. I mean, it's his room, but how lazy can you be? I think it's a disgusting way to live.
