Is it normal to only push people away that you like?

If I like someone I tend to push them away and I’m not sure how not too....
Especially love interests I get awkward when I know they have a lot of friends and I don’t, I usually pretend I do because I’m too embarrassed to say I only have 2 and don’t go out that much.

I don’t know why I push when I start to like someone... it’s not like I’ve been hurt that much either.

Is It Normal?

  • Same. If I really like someone I become like a dog and become over clingy and I let them know everything about me. It tends to freak them out and they go away. I just wish people were more comfortable with honesty.

  • You are afraid of abandonment, and most likely afraid of being hurt.

    • Maybe but I also want to be loved. So it is a vicious circle

      • True that. Have you had bad experiences with relationships in the past?

        • I have, but it’s not like I’m ‘scared’ as such, I just get distant when I like someone, I don’t know why.

  • You have social anxiety.

  • Why would you do that?
