Is it normal to only eat one meal a day?

For the past three months or so, I've only been able to eat one meal per day, and it's usually dinner. I can go a whole day without being hungry and when it's time for dinner, still not feel the need to eat.
I try to eat as best I can, but usually can't even finish my meal before I start to feel sick from feeling too full.

I'm about 5'5-5'6 and weigh around 44-45kg.

it sounds like you're underweight and your stomach has shrunk to the extent that it cannot hold a full meal any longer. You should eat more regularly throughout the day. Just start with some small portions of healthy food. The advise above by Memehoney looks very useful

When I'm depressed, feeling anxious, upset, or worried I don't have an appetite. Sometimes I'm just not hungry. In many cases it's not, but you may have some underlying issues preventing you from having a healthy appetite... I would making yourself eat something eat can be light like a bowl of fruit, a bagel, salad, yogurt, or even a glass of milk... Just for nourishment... Also try to start a 3-time-a-day regimen even if ur not hungry try to eat something.... If all else see ur doctor and ask for some appetizer pills... Btw i once didn't have an appetite like I should and it was be because of too much acid in my stomach I began eating yogurt as prescribed by my doctor... But if that didn't wrk my doctor prescribed me some medication to decrease the amount of acid in my stomach... Try some of these tips if none work I do suggest you see your doctor..

    • Thanks for the tips :) I'll try that for sure.. However a big issue is that trying to eat during the day makes me feel sick and on one occasion I've even thrown up water - which I know for certain isn't normal.

I'll take your advice as well as see a doctor, it's starting to worry me.

Well if you snack throughout the day healthy things and drink something goodby don't see this as a big issue.

You have an eating disorder. Your body is probably in starvation mode, which mean that despite what you're (not) eating it will hold on to your fatty bits and start consuming your lean muscles. This will in time give you all sort of health problems and it things go seriously bad, it will be your death as your heart and other various internal organs will fail on you.

I haven't eaten breakfast or lunch for years so it's normally 7pm before I first eat. That's usually the last time I eat too, and often I don't finish my meal. There's some evidence to suggest people who eat very lightly live 5-10 years longer.

If you're not doing this by choice, though, and something has changed physically, it's worth getting checked up.

    • It's not intentional, it's been my goal to actually gain weight. I love food and I love to exercise however, I've never been able to nor would I dare to because of my weight.

I've also been meaning to see a doctor but worried it was probably nothing, thanks for the heads up.
