Is it normal to not wear a “suit and tie” to a wedding/funeral?

First off, I think suit and ties are uncomfortable!! Second, I don’t have many more that even fit me! Third, replacing old ones are expensive!! Think I probably should just tell them I can’t go to it??

I thought this post was about a wedding funeral combined, whatever that may be lol.

If a dress code has been stipulated for a wedding and you don't stick to it then it's considered extremely rude. People will be talking about it and you'll be asked not to be in any photos. Depending on the bride and groom they may even ask you to leave. Some people wouldn't care about being that guy though, so it's up to you I guess.

Funerals are more relaxed, at least they are where I come from. As long as you wear black it's considered Ok even just to wear jeans. You should check this with whoever is organising though because the person who died May have left special instructions about it and not following them will be considered rude and disrespectful. Unlike a wedding, you can't be kicked out of a funeral. They are open to anyone. So I guess just wear whatever the hell you want.

Wear whatever you want. Because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Dressing up for wedding suck, but It's probably best to just dress the way they want you to. They'll hold a grudge, bitch behind your back about it for months and not invite you anywhere if you don't.

A neat pair of trousers and a shirt would do.

Dress for the occasion. For a wedding you are a guest, so behave like one. A funeral the same, but you are there to pay your respects. But I would say dress neatly.

For the price just go to a goodwill and pick up a five dollar one. For the uncomfortably suck it up buttercup worst things have happened since... you know your at a funeral.
