I don't bother at home but in public toilets or other people's homes I ALWAYS wash my hands because I don't know how dirty previous hands which touched the flush button or the door handle were. I also ALWAYS put the lid down before I flush and I wish everyone else would do the same, because the fine spray goes for quite a distance and can contain all sorts of things I don't want to come into contact with.
I didn't used to be so fussy but now I'm old and have quite a few serious health problems I try and guard against getting anything else wrong with me.
Heart disease (I had a second heart attack last month) and COPD/emphysema from decades of smoking (which I haven't done for nearly 10 years), plus arthritis. That's enough to deal with without exposing myself to other people's germs.
IIN to not wash your hands after peeing if no-one else is in the washroom?
