  • Nah, I think the author is sick of all that.

It's always easier and safer to do as you're told. Stick to the plan and you can see how your life will pan out till you're 80. Reassuring if seen one way, horrifying if seen in another.

Since almost everything is controlled by this system we have, it's hard to stop being a part of it, especially when you have people depending on you to bring in the dosh...
That's mostly why everyone does it. The obligation and responsibility to others.

I don't think we should simply "do as we please" (obvious murderous and other evil implications lol, I know what you mean though) but it is sad that we are bound in such a way that we don't even realise it at times. A while ago, I asked my parents what they wanted to do before and how they felt. They wanted to do this and that; really live and experience things; make a difference...you know, and why not? They forgot. Now, my dad's busy filling the new house that he's built with pretty looking toys and thousand pound rugs, but he's still not happy.

My family won't be happy if I decide to live life my own way and not take "my" part in the family business or become a high flying business person. They'll be pissed. But I really can't swallow my soul and do everything as I'm told. It sounds selfish, but I know that I can't. I have a problem with it too.
