so instead of working on a "big boss" try becoming a "big boss" your self. You can try to make a company or something and run it whiling telling OTHER people what to do. tell if it it helped.
I agree. Being your own boss is the only working freedom we can have. I've worked for myself for the last 8 years. The best thing about it is that I have complete freedom with my time; the worst thing about it is that I'm responsible for everything.
Employees don't have to worry about company taxes, paying other employees, lawsuits, providing health insurance, raising capital, security, and a myriad of other things. I don't have to worry about being fired, glass ceilings or running out of vacation days. I would never go back to becoming an employee again. Build your own business with your labor, not someone elses. The exception is if you get lots of stock options in a fast rising, successful company - in this case you can become a multi-millionaire really quickly and never have to work again.
Poison is right grim, I have no interest in telling people what to do, id be a hypocrite and no one likes a hypocrite :]
And the majority of people dont realize what sad things their lives have become, its a joke really, the system seems to be designed to keep everyone in debt. But everyone just keeps following like sheep.
When i said do as we please, i mean do as we please to ourselves. When you are affecting other people it is a different story. As for your family business dilemma, heres a quote ive taken to heart lately and sums up how i feel quite nicely.
"In kindergarten, my teacher told me to write down what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I wrote "happy".
My teacher said, "No no, you don't understand the assignment."
I said, "No, you don't understand life.""
Where's that quote from? Thanks for sharing that :)
That brought back memories of thinking about life when I was a little scrap in primary school and getting depressed over the everlasting boringness that was described in the adults' version of what would happen in the future, after school.
See, before all the talk of jobs and money, I knew that I would be FREE after stupid school of course and that I would go on adventures and do whatever the hell I wanted to do. Who in their right mind would think that school years are the best years of anyone's life?
Now, I can see why people may think that and that's just sad.
If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing in life right now, and what are you going to do with your feelings of "fuck this?" Just wondering because I'm feeling quite annoyed and disillusioned right now.
It's always easier and safer to do as you're told. Stick to the plan and you can see how your life will pan out till you're 80. Reassuring if seen one way, horrifying if seen in another.
Since almost everything is controlled by this system we have, it's hard to stop being a part of it, especially when you have people depending on you to bring in the dosh...
That's mostly why everyone does it. The obligation and responsibility to others.
I don't think we should simply "do as we please" (obvious murderous and other evil implications lol, I know what you mean though) but it is sad that we are bound in such a way that we don't even realise it at times. A while ago, I asked my parents what they wanted to do before and how they felt. They wanted to do this and that; really live and experience things; make a difference...you know, and why not? They forgot. Now, my dad's busy filling the new house that he's built with pretty looking toys and thousand pound rugs, but he's still not happy.
My family won't be happy if I decide to live life my own way and not take "my" part in the family business or become a high flying business person. They'll be pissed. But I really can't swallow my soul and do everything as I'm told. It sounds selfish, but I know that I can't. I have a problem with it too.
Is it normal To not want to waste my life doing as I'm told?

Nah, I think the author is sick of all that.
