I think it is ridiculous to omit such a normal part of sexual activity until you have tried it. That's like saying you won't kiss someone because you might catch something.
Actually you can catch more from kissing than you can from oral sex: colds, infections, thrush and other viral and bacterial infections. Just about anything can give you cancer according to scientists, from smoking to eating soft cheese. Obviously I would hope the person is clear of STD's, but otherwise what's the problem?

you cant catch really catch something from kissing. You can from sucking dick, especially oral cancer.
