I am assuming that is just nature's way of telling you what is in the best interested in our species. As a male (you and I) we might prefer women who are of shorter stature, with more fat (in certain areas), soft skin and large lips.
As females they are looking for non of those traits (mostly).
But from time to time I have made comments such as "Liam Neeson and Gerard Butler are pretty good looking men." So has my wife.
There also plenty of men with soft skin and large lips... Lip size especially has no gender correlation beyond a slight female protrusion in profile. Men actually have slightly more visible vermillion (red lip portion) on average. Men also don't have wider mouths as people think, only wider jaws. Women with big lips are preferred culturally. Whereas men can be considered attractive within a larger spectrum of lip sizes. Also, women take care of their lips so they remain redder and plumper with age compared to men. Older men often have withered lips because they don't protect them with balms or exfoliate.
