In my opinion, 1st and 2nd season pokemon were original, had great design, and games like Leaf Green were all time classics.
X and Y, you can see how they're running out of ideas. The pokemon look fucking horrible, and they're focussing on making it look pretty rather than what made the games popular in the first place; gameplay and originality. They could have evolved games like leaf green, adding hundreds of hours more content, larger maps, better but similar graphics, but no.
I don't mind 3D, but mind X and Y. For example, Stadium games on N64 were pretty nice.
I'll certainly wait many years till I get round to X and Y, or the later seasons of the show. It's shifted from Western more and more towards Asian origins, and I don't like this new spin on things.
In the meantime, there are lots of great fan projects; Go on youtube and type in 'Pokemon Generation' (development has been stopped) and 'Pokemon 3D' (much like the Gameboy Advance games in terms of graphics, but it's fully 3D. You can even play in 1st person!)
Good luck on your oncoming Pokemon adventures. Perhaps one day we shall battle :)
Is it normal to not play Pokemon anymore because of this?
