Some people give bad first impressions. Me and my friends talk about this often (i.e. which of our mutual friends we disliked at first). My best friend, whose first impression was a well-rehearsed act, I liked for that bravado and I still like him now he's gone through being a mess and coming out the other side. Other people, who seemed great, have become not so great. And the consensus on me is that I'm very difficult to judge at first. In short, don't read too much into things. It takes people time to form a relationship (or work out that they really don't want to).
