Is it normal to not like hugging people you’re not very close with?
I don’t know how society got this way but I can honestly say, the whole hugging greeting has gotten out of hand. I’ve always been the type to like my 3 feet of personal space, and I really dislike people that hug when it’s not necessarily appropriate. Especially if they’re basically a stranger to me. Immediate family, yes no problem... a girlfriend/spouse, absolutely... close friends, yes.. but someone you don’t know too well coming in for a hug better think twice! Does anyone else get weirded out by the random huggers or is it just me?
A handshake or a wave is fine. I even attended a funeral and wake a month ago and people I barely knew kept hugging me. I would freeze and felt like I was going to hyperventilate lol I don’t think I was like this as a kid but now as an adult, it really does bother me
